Art Group Of the Month – Art in Adlington
On our road trip of art groups in the North West of England we are stopping off this month in Adlington, Chorley. Visiting Art in Adlington a busy, welcoming group. Lets take a look at what they get up to.
When & where do we meet?
Art in Adlington meets every Tuesday at the Fairview Youth & Community Centre, Highfield Road North, Adlington. We meet for 30 weeks of the year, broadly in line with school term-time (January – April, May – July and September – December).

The Centre has a large well lit room, disabled access, kitchen, toilet and car parking facilities. There are two, two-hour classes (starting at 09:00 and 11:15 hrs) during the terms with members able to choose which class to attend, subject to available places.
Who is the group suitable for?
Membership is £20 a year and each session you attend costs £5. Membership is open to all over the age of 18. Art in Adlington is tutor-led and suitable for all levels of experience. New themes are introduced on a regular basis and a variety of media used, although if you want to use a medium you prefer that’s fine. Help is still at hand should you want it. Our latest venture has been using water-mixable oils on a theme of reflections.
How do the classes run?

Under the guidance of our tutor, beginners and more experienced members are encouraged to develop their drawing and painting skills using a wide variety of media.
Jacquie Wilkes has been the resident tutor for Art in Adlington from the day it started. As a professional artist she uses a variety of mediums, watercolour, pastels, acrylic and oil and she enjoys the challenge of something new. Jacquie has a background in teaching Art and Design in Further Education. and is always on hand with help and advice.
We exhibit regularly

We have exhibited at two venues this year; St Laurence’s Church and Astley Hall Coach House. Our next exhibition is taking place at Village Art Gallery in Shevington during November, please come along and support us.
