Write a reviewalthough ive painted in quotes most of my life i havent really used watercolours properly until the last year during lockdown. i had lots of brushes mostly small but when following some wet in wet and loose artists i found that i needed some bigger brushes. initially i went for some that talked about springy simulating sable. but i was finding that they were holding too much water... lots of puddling. and maybe springy doesnt let the brush flow the paint over the paper the way i wanted it to. so i bought a small selection , being unable to get to a good art shop locally... one of them is this one. i had thought that i needed sable but the cheaper sable or squirrel ones are somewhat strange - at least the selection that i got;-) anyway then i tried this one .. its soft yet returns to a point. it swirls in the water so cleaning seems easier. a few wipes and the excess water is gone. just what i wanted! even the shaft has a good shape for me. yes i guess that the 10 is like a 12 but with its point it doesnt seem to matter... i think a couple more of these and my desires will be satisfied.
Good quality brushes and they hold a lot of water and paint. You might want to think carefully about the size you order and get the next one down
As a disclamer, this is my first brush so don't have much comparison. I just started watercolours and found my cheap brushes unable to hold and distribute the water properly. This is not the case with this one. I find the size 6 is suitable for A5 and the smaller one (size 2) is great for details. Would I order it again? - most likely.
Do I feel this brush is sufficient for my beginners needs? - absolutely.
