Gamblin Artists Oil Paint 37ml Tubes are available in 40 colours, each made to professional grade. These paints combine the latest technical advancements in paint making with the best qualities of traditionally made colour to create a paint with the very best working properties possible. The colour range includes everything from historically accurate pigments to modern, synthetically derived hues.
Gamblin’s Artists Oils are made using the very finest grades of artist pigments. The majority of colours are bound in an alkali-refined linseed oil binder, while the rest use safflower oil. Choosing an alkali-refined linseed oil over the more traditional cold pressed linseed oil binder results in a paint that yellows significantly less while still drying to a strong, flexible film. Both oils used by Gamblin are non toxic, and are commonly used in health and beauty products, so their is no concern about their safety for use in paints. All Gamblin colours are non-toxic.
No solvents are required to work with Gamblin Oils. All colours can be thinned with small amounts of Linseed Oil. Dirty brushes can be cleaned by wiping excess paint away with a cloth, working Linseed Oil into the bristles before rinsing with brush cleaner or soap and water.

Gamblin Artists’ Oil Paints can be broadly split into two different types: ‘mineral inorganic colours’ and ‘modern organic colours’.
These colours are made from cadmium, cobalt, iron and similar metals. They’re very similar to the colours used by the Impressionists, Renaissance and Classical painters. These types of colours have a high pigment load and low oil absorption. They will easily gray-dow in mixtures and are perfect for painting natural hues and light. Most of the colours in this group are opaque, with only a few semi-transparent and transparent colours.
All these colours are manufactures from organic, carbon based pigments and are similar to those used by 20th Century artists. A lot of these types of colours are available in a warm and cool cersion (e.g. Phthalo Green and Phthalo Emerald). Modern Organic Colours are the best choice for high key painting and creating bright tints. These colours are predominantly transparent, although there are some semi-transparent colours too.
