  • Good Pen

First of all, mapping pens aren't the easiest things to draw with. They don't work perfectly when new and they need practice. So don't expect this pen to work without a little patience.
That said, there are instructions with this pen, unlike some, and it is a good quality pen. There are cheaper mapping pens out there but, having used them, you do get what you pay for. If you are thinking of trying a dip-ink pen, then pay a little bit more because a cheap scratchy thing can put you off.

  • Fine and scratchy!

I didn't find this too smooth on 140lb paper but then it's probably not made for that. Feels good in your hand - nice length/balance and you don't have to keep dipping quite as much as I thought. I'm glad I bought it.

  • Beautifully fine and expressive

Not the easiest dip pens to work with but worth taking time with - I find they work best with R&K drawing inks (sadly not on Ken Bromley's virtual shelves) but they are OK with other acrylic inks. Shellac inks can be a bit too heavy for these nibs.
