Write a reviewI have tried gouache on and off, but watercolour is just not my medium. But for carrying to my local art club, gouache is so much more convenient than oils, I bought this book to find out more about gouache. Any medium has it's advantages and disadvantages, and knowing these idiosyncrasies helps me as an artist. This book gave all the information on gouache that I was looking for, and more that I never knew about. I had expected to read through this quickly, but instead found myself reading carefully and going back to re-read certain chapters. I think an inexperienced artist would find the chapters on styles interesting and enlightening. As an amateur artist who has painted for years, I certainly found myself learning more, and taking a second look at those chapters too. Altogether an excellent book on gouache, deep enough and yet enjoyable to read. If you have any interest in using gouache, I would recommend this book.
I agree with the previous reviewers comments. The book gives a number of ways to work with gouache and demonstrates the process. Myself I feel Gouache is a very under rated medium. It is very versatile great for loose and detailed work. No mediums to add or retarders, boosters or whatever. Just add a little water.
