Unison Colour Soft Pastels

Description

Unison Colour Soft Pastels are a professional quality soft pastel with a smooth texture, vibrant colour and high pigment load. Each pastel is handmade in the UK to John Hersey’s original recipe to ensure a pastel with high quality and consistency.

Unison was founded by Hersey after he found that most commercially available pastels did not offer the quality and texture he required. For years he worked to develop his own professional quality pastel - the result is the Unison soft pastel we know today! Hersey’s original recipes are still in use today to guarantee a consistently high-quality product. Each pastel is made using the finest artists pigments with the best lightfastness to ensure that your artwork will stand the test of time. They have a smooth, buttery texture and are water soluble.

These soft pastels can be used to create a variety of effects. Their softness makes colour mixing easy and the versatility of pastel means that they can be blended and used with all kinds of mediums including oil, charcoal, pencil and watercolour.

Unison Colour Soft Pastels are popular with artists of all abilities - from amateur to professional - and are widely considered to be the best soft pastel on the market. As these pastels are handmade their shape and size may vary slightly.

At Bromleys, we take great care in packing and shipping your art materials to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. However, due to the delicate nature of some of our products, particularly soft pastels and charcoal sticks, these items may occasionally arrive with minor chips or breaks. Small chips and clean breaks in the pastel do not detract from their use. Therefore, we regret that we cannot offer refunds for pastels with minor damage unless they are rendered completely unusable.

  • Excellent quality

I bought a small selection to add to my pastel collection and to see if they lived up to their reputation and if they are worth the investment. So far I am impressed by the coverage and they are definitely amongst the softest I own or have used. They are chunkier than I expected, which is helpful as they are not cheap. Are they worth paying for? Frankly, for me, possibly not. But I am not necessarily using them in the traditional pastel manner. I imagine for anyone using a heavy layering, then they are ideal. My reservations are therefore more concerned with my personal use, rather than the quality of the pastels. As with all art supplies, try it yourself and see if they meet your needs.

I like the consistency and the size of these pastels, they are soft but not too crumbly
