For use with water mixable oils
Reduces consistency when mixed with colour
Used when painting in layers to maintain the fat over lean rule
Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Linseed Oil is the main binder in the Artisan colours. When mixed with colour it reduces consistency. Linseed oil is the most commonly used medium. It is combined with water or Thinner to maintain the structure of the paint film. It is also used when painting in layers to maintain the fat over lean rule: each successive layer must have more oil in it than the previous one.

Works beautifully with my Artisan Water Mixable oils to increase the flow of the paints and create lovely glazes.
Perfect for use with Artisan water mixable oil paints. Just a small amount improves the paint flow. Looks and feels just like traditional linseed oil. Although it does slow drying it doesn't slow it as much as traditional oil (which I find an advantage).
