The Winsor & Newton Artisan Studio Water Mixable Set contains a range of ten 37ml tubes plus 1 bottle of water mixable linseed oil and 2 Artisan brushes (flat size 2 & round size 4).
Winsor & Newton's Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil colour. Like traditional oil colour, Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour is made from linseed oil and safflower oil. The only difference is the linseed oil and safflower oil used in Artisan have been modified so that they will mix and clean up with water. Artisan has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil colour. The depth of colour, buttery consistency, lightfastness, opacity/transparency, performance and drying times of Artisan, allow artists to use this range for all oil colour techniques.

Pros and cons...
First of all I want to stress that I like Artisan oil colours. I bought them to see if they are worth trying and as advertised they do behave much like conventional oil paints. Washing them with water and soap is real advantage for someone using it in the house. Odor is pretty much like conventional oil (no turpentine though - I miss it's smell but my wife is happier this way)
On the down side: The selection of hues is odd (which is becoming a habit for W&N) since in the set of 10 they DIDN'T include basic 6 which they recommend!? Second regret is that just as I bought this set they issued much nicer wooden box (with 8 colours) and I definitely recommend that one instead (+ buying additional paints to enrich the palette - get the missing basic colours + Black & White) and you should be OK.39 of 40 people found this review helpful. I am pleased with the colors. They are a bit dry so I have to use white spirit or a little oil. With oil the colors dry slow. The brushes are easy to clean after dry off on paper and then rinse with water.
