Liquitex Professional Satin Medium

Liquitex Satin Medium can be mixed with acrylic paints to thin and extend colour that will then dry to a satin finish. It is also perfect for use as a collaging adhesive.

This medium imparts a satin finish which increases colour depth and transparency. When used with Heavy Body acrylics it lowers viscosity and gives the paint increased flow. Using this medium allows you to extend your colour without affecting the stability of the paint film. Your colours will maintain their adhesion, durability and archival quality. It can also be used as a non-removable varnish to protect paintings and will create a painting with a uniform satin surface sheen. It is useful in collage and mixed media work. It can be used as a glue to collage lightweight materials and can also be used to transfer printed images.

This medium is lightfast, archival, permanent, non-yellowing, flexible, non-cracking and water-resistant when dry. It is also fully intermixable with all other Liquitex acrylic products.

To use Liquitex Satin Medium follow these steps:

• If required, this medium can be thinned by diluting with up to 25% water. Distilled water will give you the best results.
• Mix as much medium as required into your acrylic colours to achieve the viscosity and transparency required. The more medium you add the more transparent and fluid your paint will become.
• Mix this medium in gently to avoid bubbles. If bubbles do appear leave the mixture to sit and they should disappear.
• When wet this medium is semi-opaque, but will dry to a transparent finish.
• You can use this medium to fix pastel, graphite and chalk. Mix 1 part medium with 1 part distilled water and apply to your work with an atomizer or airbrush.
• Apply with a brush or sponge to use as a lightweight collaging glue.
• Mix with other Liquitex Acrylic products for limitless effects.

Do not shake or vigorously over-brush as it can cause the finish to become foggy or hazy when dry.

Do not use with any non-acrylic media.
