Write a reviewWith a gesso primed canvas for oil painting the gesso will absorbs the oil from the pigment. So the picture will give a flat looking finish. With the oil painting primer the oil does not sink into the canvas therefore the painting retains that oil painting richness colour and depth of an oil painting. I painted two small oil paintings one on a gesso primed canvas another canvas primed with oil painting primer. You can easily tell them apart. The down side of oil painting primer is you will have to wait four to five days for it to dry out thoroughly, but it is with the wait. Four star because of the drying time.
