  • An unfair criticism

    I think the previous reviewer should look to the method of their use of this product.
    The substrate carrying the support was (probably) never intended to take/absorb indelicate, massive washes of excitable watercolour application. Daler Rowney should perhaps draw attention to this on the cover sheet.
    Every good watercolorist ought to experiment with their support (and paints) before committing to a finished work - just as different brushes are selected for a definite purpose. There are many variables which affect the final outcome - the trick is to see how all these can live with each other, producing a satisfactory image.
    I've used these boards as generators for ideas and they stand up to a lot of abuse - Arches and Fabriano support quality they are not - but they do the job of fleshing out ideas very well.

    These boards absorb water and become buckled. The color is cream. I regret buying them
