.... Cuts smoothly and evenly, kind of "polishing" the lead to a point (previously, the sharpeners I have used "rasped" the wood and lead to a rough finish - now the pencil feels ready to use. Two spin-offs for me - the first is that I am more careful in selecting the right softness or hardness for the job, as this sharpener allows you to make the most of your pencil, and the second is that this is no run-of-the-mill sharpener, and I take more care of it and keep it safe in its own box! Happy sharpening.
