A comprehensive and beautiful guide to creating your own nature-inspired linocuts
Includes 10 projects that help build your linocut skills
Also includes templates so you can start making your own print blocks
Nature Imprinted by Jane Spink is a comprehensive guide to lino printing. Under Jane’s tuition you’ll discover how to capture the beauty of the natural world using your own linocut blocks.
In this book Jane, the creative mind behind Inky Dog Studio, shares a glimpse into the working process behind her distinctive and immediately recognisable linocut prints. You’ll be guided through the process, from making the initial sketches and taking inspirational photos to exploring carving techniques and ultimately carving your own blocks.
After reading an inspirational chapter and an introductory exercise on key linocut techniques, you’ll embark upon 10 exciting projects that will help build up your skills step by step. You’ll learn to carve birds, flowers, leaves and more, and discover how to make negative images, incorporate colour and make complex compositions. The book also includes templates for all the projects, so you can start making your own print blocks and learn the skills to create your own.
Not only is this book a practical guide, it’s also a beautifully presented, intuitive book that breaks free from the monotony of the standard step-by-step guide. It’s a great springboard for you to set forth from on your journey to creating your own nature-inspired linocuts.
