Saunders Waterford Book

The book is strongly bound with stout covers and sewn-in pages, and is in a useful format, especially for landscape. It is good for outdoor work due to its strength. One can work right across the pages without a break especially easily in the pages at the centre of each 'signature'.

Saunders Waterford paper, which I have used in sheet and block form for many years, is wonderful stuff, I'm so glad to have found it in these books from Ken Bromley, I've not seen them before anywhere else.

I note that another reviewer didn't like the watermarks. Watermarks (present on all high quality papers on individual sheets that I have used) are on a few of the pages. On Saunders Waterford papers there are 2 per full size sheet, a small square stamp in one corner, and the name along one edge, therefore when bound from sheets in order to retain the deckle, they will come up on some of the page edges, just as they do on sheet edges, and I personally do not find them any sort of problem. Many pages don't have them so they are easy to avoid if you need to do some full page work and they bother you. I like the fact they have used sheets with watermarks and deckles to make the book. It gives the book a real feel of tradition and quality, as well as being a bit 'quirky' -in a nice way.

Really good quality, sturdy, and special. Expensive, but considering the paper quality and size in a hardback cover it’s probably justifiable.
