Polar Series

The Polar brush range are an excellent choice if you're just starting out or working with a new medium. Consequently, they are particularly popular with home, craft and hobby artists and they are even used in schools and colleges. Unpretentious yet remarkably tough and durable, they will withstand a lot of abuse and offer a great option if you are trying out new techniques. Although they lack the particular refinements of Prolene and more professional brushes, these absences are reflected in their price. The price is in no way a reflection of their working properties; you can still rely on them to hold a point, retain colour and keep their shape.

Polar brushes can be used with many different mediums and applications. Many find them especially useful for decorating models in plastic, wood, metal, glass or ceramic. Use with watercolour, gouache, ink and acrylics; these brushes are a great all-rounder. And, whatever you choose to create with them, you need not concern yourself with how much they will cost to replace once they come to the end of their workable life! That said, if they are cared for and cleaned carefully, they can become some of your most valued and durable artists' tools.

Series 201 Sterling Acrylix

The Sterling Acrylix is a ground-breaking brush range designed principally for acrylic painters. These brushes were an immediate success with acrylics artists, and their excellent properties were soon recognised by oils artists who realised what an astonishingly versatile and precise painting tool they are. The working properties of these brushes go beyond those of their Acrylix cousins and offer exciting new properties of their own. Although the synthetic fibres offer a firm and sturdy brush tip, the filaments are flexible and soft enough to produce a silky working texture. The use of synthetics in the Sterling Acrylix also makes it impressively durable, so it will retain its snap and point session after session! Prolonged standing in water has virtually no effect on these brushes which is a desirable asset for acrylics artist. The white colour of the brush tip also lets the artist accurately judge the colour to be painted.

Each brush tip is made from silky white synthetic filaments, secured with a ferrule set in a silver lacquered handle.

Acrylix Series

The Acrylix is a great example of another Pro-Arte 'first'; a synthetic brush designed to rival the natural hog hair brushes commonly used in acrylic and oil painting. The Acrylix series offers a range of brushes that are ideal for Acrylic or Oils artists who require precision for detail, tremendous 'spring' and great pointing adaptability.

Series 22 Hog Varnish Brush

The Series 22 Hog Varnish Brush is made from the best Chinese bristle. This brush range offers a range three different sizes, with each brush having a large useable area that is ideal for applying that finishing varnish or for covering big areas with Oil or Acrylic colour. The Chinese bristle offers a good spring to provide excellent control on the painting surface. Each brush is made sturdily, with a flat lacquered handle with a nickel ferrule. These brushes perform excellently and will not easily shed their hairs during use. As with all varnish brushes, it is recommended that the brushes are washed before use to ensure that any loose hairs are removed. This way you needn't worry about stray hairs clogging up your final varnish coat!

Series A Hog

The Series A Hog brush range is made from Jyukeis hog bristle - the highest grade of hog bristle currently obtainable. This professional quality fibre is considered by connoisseurs to be without equal. This bristle is extremely firm and, in the case of Long and Short Flats, it incurves to a beautiful razor's edge. The firmness of the fibres means that the brushes offer incredible spring and are highly responsive to your oil paints. Perhaps the greatest virtue of these brushes is their ability to maintain good shape, even after prolonged use and lots of cleaning. There are four different brush shapes available in this range; Round, Short Flat, Long Flat and Filbert. Each corresponding size across these four shapes is exactly the same price.

Series B Hog

The Series B Hog offers a range of hog bristle artists' brushes, but at a more affordable price than Series A Hog. Although more economically priced there are no compromises made with the quality of the materials. Each brush is made from high quality Chinese Chungking bristles. The Series B Hog range are available in a brush wallet, which includes Short Flats in sizes 2, 4 and 6, a Long Flat size 5 and a Round Size 1.
