VERSATIL - Kolinsky Synthetic

The Versatil brush range was created with maximum versatility in mind. Living up to their name, these brushes have exceptional snap, superior absorption and fluid retention. The Versatil range can be used for a diverse range of applications and, although they are ideal for use with watercolour, they can also be used with both oil and acrylic. PERLA - White Toray Synthetic

White Toray fibres are some of the softest synthetic filaments and are typically used with watercolour. This round profile brush is made up of fibres of three different sized filaments and three different lengths, which taper together beautifully to form a perfect, fine tip. The fine point and soft hairs mean that colour can be laid down smoothly with the ultimate precision. These brushes also have the capacity to hold a lot of colour. If you are looking for a watercolour brush with a good point, this is the brush for you!

Perla White Toray Synthetic Round profile Brushes are available individually in sizes 2/0 to 22 and also as travel brushes in size 10 in the Joseph Zbukvic Perla Signature Brush Set.

ULTIMO - Tendo Synthetic

This artificial hair is considered to be an almost perfect imitation of genuine Squirrel hair. The special fibres that are used in the Ultimo brush series offer extraordinary softness and colour loading capacity. These brush features are almost equal to their equivalents in a genuine Squirrel hair brush. The Ultimo series is viewed by some to be the benchmark for superior synthetic hair.

These brushes are available in a round profile in sizes 14 and 18 in the Alvaro Castagnet Ultimo Collection, and in the Ultimo Mottler Brush in three different sizes.

PRADO - Tame Synthetic

The Prado brush range is highly regarded as its synthetic fibres offer a good similarity to genuine sable hair. Similar not only in colour, but also in its imitation in spring and the absorption of liquids, the Prado range offers remarkably similar characteristics to its genuine sable counterparts. Each brush is manufactured from three different sized filaments of three different lengths, meaning that the brush forms a fine tapered point. These variations in size and length give the Prado brush a similar brushstroke to a brush made from natural hair.

Available in a round profile in the Alvaro Castagnet Prado Collection in sizes 8, 10 and 12, and in the Alvaro Castagnet Ultimo Collection in a size 8.

BARROCO - Gold Toray Synthetic

Barroco Gold Toray is one of the most popular synthetic hairs for watercolour painting. The fibres used in the Barroco range are similar in many ways to the White Toray fibres of the Perla range, but the Barroco series features a greater combination of fibre diameters which allow for more spring. Formed in a perfect point, this exceptional brush can be used from start to finish of a watercolour piece.

The Barroco brushes are available in a round profile in sizes 8, 12 and 20 in the Nicholas Simmons Brush Set No1, and in a round size 16 with a size 18 Mottler in the Nicholas Simmons Brush Set No2.
